Visa and Mastercard Delay Planned Changes
to Costs and Fee Structures

Yesterday Visa announced that it is once again delaying changes to costs and fee structures that had been planned to take place in April 2021. The announcements by the card associations were covered by both Digital Transactions https://www.digitaltransactions.net/card-brands-delay-interchange-updates-and-other-digital-transactions-news-briefs-from-3-16-21/ and PYMNTS.com https://www.pymnts.com/news/payment-methods/2021/mastercard-and-visa-postpone-planned-us-interchange-hikes/.

The bulk of the fee increases and changes targeted Card Not Present (CNP) transactions which have become more prevalent in the current environment. It should also be noted that there were some fee decreases that were scheduled to take effect in the April 2021 changes, and those too have been put on hold until April 2022.
